Pre-Face:
Recently I've been getting back into actually playing a rebel and there's one thing that annoys me. Ammunition. Once you load say a box of 30 9mm rounds onto your character, they are permenantly stuck there. If you gain a better gun for example or no longer use a 9mm gun, that ammo is trapped.
The Suggestion:
Add the ability to take ammo from guns. I've seen this done before on "The Purple Server". They had a system where, when you loaded a box of ammo, you would then gain that empty box. You could then interact with it by right clicking in your inventory and have the option to "Refill" it. To do so, you needed the exact amount of ammo that the box comes with by default. So, for Willard you'd need: 30 9mm to refill a box, 15 .357, 45 SMG, 30 AR and so on. Additionally, I'd add the ability to break down the ammo box for those who don't want to have to keep it around. For 9mm, SMG, Pulse & AR I'd give 1-2 metal sheets, as they are textured to be metal boxes and for Sniper & 357 I'd give cloth, as they are textured to be in cardboard boxes. It might also be intresting to add empty boxes of rounds to loot crates, beings as they could be broken down and the fact somone might choose to use it and refill the box from their weapon.
The Pros & The Cons
Pros:
1) Players will be able to unload magazines and transfer them to other guns, or simply just unload magazines for guns that use ammo types they no longer use.
2) You'd be able to share ammo with your friends if they become low, especially in the heat of a battle.
Cons:
1) Carrying around/storing empty ammo boxes could be a burdon.
2) The breakdown options add yet another way to gain materials.
