It was a lot more interesting than what we have now. Bruce has a solid point: making resistance roleplay challenging is one thing, but making it tedious and insufferable is another thing entirely. I think the server-wide preference for Combine factions is undeniable (which fits to a degree seeing how it is a loyalist city) but it has reached the point where giving the rebels even a remote semblance of an advantage or quality of life improvement is immediately decried.
Transhumans are not invincible. I feel like with all the advantages they already have, forcing a S2K mode for their sweeps - for a rebel population that is still in the early stages of developing - is not only detrimental to the server, but also rather silly. Why we lean so much on a faction that is, according to some, 'an ooc tool to keep rebels in check' is beyond me.
As a compromise, I suggest keeping TBC during a sweep but forgoing the /me condition. More dynamic and fast paced without getting rid of the primary combat system.
