Since the DOB/CWU/RCD is not allowed to use biolocks on stores (reference Neonity on this), the DOB/RCD has no way to access stores if there are no store owners. I'd like to address this with a simple suggestion that can be solved with one essential script that can be made through a Combine PDA and assigned to RCD Senior Worker+ or whomever the CCA deems fit to hold these.

The i24/District Store Master Key

What does it do, pray to tell? Why, it lets you access any store lock within the entirety of i24/the district you're in. It's been made clear DOB locks are now right out and as such, we have no alternative forms of access. I want to address possible counter-arguments, however, before they are made:

1c. Just ask the store owner/supervisor/employees.
1r. See, that would be a good idea. But if District-11 has shown me anything, store owner and employee activity are less than reliable. And if there's something we in the DOB/RCD need to investigate, TAKE FOR EXAMPLE, A LITERAL STRIPPER POLE, then we need a way to access the stores without having to rely on store owners and their staff.

2c. Just put on biolocks.
2r. See the first paragraph.

3c. Kick the door down!
3r. Again, great idea! Who's gonna lock it to prevent theft? There's an essential issue that needs solving. If you can find a way for DOB to re-lock the doors after them being kicked down, please tell me, otherwise, the citizen and rebel RPers are going to have a field day rolling 90s and 100s on their lockpicking rolls when picking open an unguarded chest.

4c. Just give the DOB/RCD all the store keys!
4r. Keeping it simple, do you want to carry around 6+ store keys on you ALL DAY?

Now, since this would be a faction item, stealing it would require Faction Lead+ authority, as well as staff authority and /pettycrime or /crime checks to be met.

If there are no issues with this suggestion, I think it'd be a great way to resolve DOB/RCD not having access to any of the things they need to have access to.

this is all one big IC issue

Hol Up, Isnt There A DOB Acess Card that opened shops? did it get removed?

Padlocks solve this problem for shops
Those padlocks need to get changed every time a store owner gets swapped out. More credits used compared to this cheaper, maybe easier-on-the-server alternative.

You also need to realize that's 10+ passwords needed to remember, you need to put in to every door, etc. It's a pain in the ass, and if you were DOB/RCD, you'd be trying to find a work around to putting more than 10+ scripts on doors across the entire city.

Keys bypass the padlock so the shop owner doesn't need to know the password to the locks and it solves the issue of them not being able to access their building

You can all set them to the same password. It's not like anyone but rc + management needs to know

Not like you need to memorize any passwords.... considering they are stored In the cwu discord

Other than padlocks being available, and the fact this could open more doors for having a CWU Warehouse Key in the future, I need to know why you're against this.

I am against it since what you are asking for is an item to be created for only a few individuals to hold due to its nature of literally unlocking every store in the map and causing mass theft. Its like the shackle key for the vort. OTA doesn't carry them on them at all due to the fact if they did and died, the rebels can just free every vort in the city

Padlocks work since you can have them on the needed doors and have RC Senior Workers+ and Management have access to them, which is enough. Senior Workers+ in the RC are trusted enough to hold the Combine PDA, so why not just let them have access to codes to get into shops?

As for the warehouse doors, only two doors on the map are padlocked. There is no reason for every worker to have access to them via a back door, and the abuse potential of people just losing the keys

Ancient issue. I have not heard anyone ever complain about this ever again.

I do not remember the details anymore about this on whether or not locks can be put on store doors again but worse case scenario... just put a damn padlock.
