Let's get to it.

Loyalism

Non-existent in both the initial launch and the beta, which is worrying. Apparently a few characters have received T1 and T2 loyalism because they participated in the work cycles, but that doesn't mean anything because loyalists don't get perks yet. I think it was a big mistake not introducing a proper loyalty system here in the beta, but I digress. I could go on about how to make loyalty appealing to the average player but that's another thread in of itself, so I'll leave it. I just want to see it on the actual launch.

CPs

There was a thread already made about this, you can find it here: https://willard.network/forums/threads/loyalist-rp-is-underwhelming-when-cp-display-inaction.1757/

CPs just go on patrols and berate people who confront them directly. They act very passively until an admin gives them the go ahead to gun down people during riots. What can I say? They're not bad by any means, and they're not good either. They seem to be there for the sake of hl2rp, and they have no goals of their own other then the enforcement of the status quo (which is passive rp and work rp by the way). They don't seem to employ any sort of tactics with how they control the population of the city, and they seem to think going on the odd patrol every now and then is enough. It's disappointing how bland and passive they are. No one is afraid of them, they are a laughing stock honestly and are mocked constantly without remorse.

CCA

The CCA, like the CPs, have no real authority over the population and its various departments are disconnected. CCA members have no access to their own office (lol) which is the same issue they had on the initial release. They really don't have anything to do other then the one or two people that make generic as fuck broadcasts. The CCA has no communication with the CPs, as @Gr4Ss said here.

Capture.JPG

No one really knows who the CA is. His character and broadcasts are not very memorable and he himself, like the CPs and the CCA, exercises no initiative to do or change any aspect of the city. It wouldn't surprise me if he was disconnected from the CCA as well.

Housing, Food, Work

Housing Is non-existent. Generally, people have an aspiration to acquire a house as they join a hl2rp server, or work for one and buy one with money. Citizens are relegated to the ration terminal building where they sleep in bunks. This whole bunk thing makes sense considering the theme of the beta, but acquiring an apartment should have been something to earn from the get go. What are the citizens even working for anyway? Food and Water is useless as you do not die from starvation or dehydration. I have brought this point up before, and the community managers are very keen not to introduce death by starvation on the server for one reason or another. In my opinion, it removes yet another thing to do. So citizens can't get a house, they don't need food and water, so what is their incentive to work? They have none. this lack of foresight for something so obvious is a big red flag for the actual launch of the server.

You can avoid work, not eat or drink, you can do nothing and you will survive this so called "dystopia". People NEED a drive otherwise the server will stagnate. People seem to forget the initial launch stagnated quite a bit before they had to pull the plug.

TL;DR

Everything feels disconnected and isolated from each other. The CCA doesn't do much, the CPs are bog standard, maybe even sub-par, and patrolling is the most you'll see them do. Citizens work without incentive. Loyalism is not in. Housing is not in. Food and water is useless. Work rp for two weeks was a bad idea, but it had potential.

if ur goal is to steamroll other factions and not create awesome rp and memorable stories you’ve already lost

beta just seems forgettable from all accounts I’ve heard

Should try it yourself - rather than blindly complain about it. Informed feedback is what we need.

Don’t address the first part, cool.

I’d love to but I’m unable. I’m going off of other accounts and tbf it doesn’t look interesting at all.

And I mean, it is valid criticism. Call me le neb shill or le anthology shill but the events that have been crafted for the community as a whole have been way more interesting. A few pointers:

- Borealis. An event set in Svalbard. Set up by crazy transhumanist government to find and bring back Advisor. 5 player-ran camps all with different purposes and seperate. Shit goes south, camps explode, leaders die, advisor goes on a rampage and flies away. Borealis shows up and then the military comes and evacuates everyone with a few people hopping on the B-wors.

Joseon: Conflict in Korea between two interesting and warring factions. Duels, Xenian fighting pits, factions vying for power. Eventually ends with a big charge and huge battle of like 120 people.

That’s not to put Neb on some high pedestal. They’ve had some shitty events (Awakening, C24 stuff, etc)

So on and so forth yadada. Point being, the bases for these events are much more interesting than le xenian infestation rebuilding. Do something interesting for gods sake

Even with an interesting premise, Willard staff are so far up their own assholes to give characters any leeway. Deviate from their script and you will get steamrolled by @Gr4Ss

No offense Merlin, but all you have done for six months is complain endlessly about the server.

Willard sucks this, server sucks that, staff sucks these...on and on and on. For literal months. New devblog out? Gotta make sure to mark that with a fat X. Frankly your bias against us is so deep-rooted that we could shit gold and you would complain about the corn kernels. Always got something to say - never with any actual substance or validity whatsoever. Its just old at this point. Not sure why you are still here.

Don't know anything about neb really, but let me fill you in on why it is this event.
This is based off of the closing events of Terranova which was occupied by many players whom are still with us to this day. Its a relevant piece of lore within our world and thus was chosen as a reasonable and tasteful pick.
Also it isn't just about xen infestation but the rebuilding of the entire district. Including the various internal faction goals that often have them competing with the ultimate fate of the area. Also including the fact it served as a decent ground for our systems to be tested in full. I would recommend you get your 'sources' to explain these things to you before whining.

Anyway, the only real reason I even mention it is because I want to highlight what kind of feedback we need. What we are looking for is constructive feedback, that is both informed and based in good faith that staff and server may improve for the final release. That is all we ask of anyone commenting on this beta event. We expect there to be issues - there have been issues. We will work on addressing them as we always have even when things were bad. We all remember the V1 days. So, think about how smooth this has been in comparison. Perfect? Hell no. But we have made great strides since then; all in the hope of making a good server for everyone to enjoy as much as possible.

Its HL2RP, I don't think it will ever be perfect. But, we can always try. So keep feedback precise, informed and well-rooted in experience and it will be heard. We've never refused to change something solely because we were too proud to admit it may be at fault.
(Generally this thread is fine. Don't assume I'm going after you lot.)

When you’re trying to explain why the current system is bad so you proceed to lace your arguments with random non-issues and non-arguments so you can convince the staff you are degrading to listen to why your system is better. Very alpha and intelligent move 😎

Trust me, I am the most enthused of my clique for Willard’s relaunch. I was enthused and ready for Willard’s first launch. However, I got shat on hard. There were so many problems, some which were addressed, and others that were just thrown aside.

You bring up the Dev Blogs. It’s impressive. You guys are lightyears ahead of Nebulous on the features. However, to my eye it’s all been about devwork while major problems have been ignored.

I’m a sucker for the RP over the features. It’s why I disagreed the dev blogs. Minimal work was done for events, roleplay, and staffing.

The event premise is uninteresting frankly. It just is. The criticism on this thread alone about staffing for this event is wild.

Trust me, I’ll play the second relaunch when I get a chance. I have some interesting ideas that I’ll try out and flesh out.

the event is just bland

The Beta is well thought in my opinion, it's a nice little run to set some story up but two weeks? No.

The Beta doesn't exactly aim at the entire server. People who enjoy loyalist rp, people who enjoy resistance rp (which makes a good portion) are in the blank during this. The limitations of housing and any non-public areas for people to roleplay in is also non existing. I can see some people roleplaying around this concept but two weeks is just too long and boring for that.

In my opinion, you should end this beta this weekend and start working on the release as you guys already are. Yes, the community voted for it to be two weeks, yes the community said so. But keep in mind, community is made of a group of players who are here without any obligations or responsibilities. Nobody will lose anything if they vote something wrong, nobody knew what the beta was going to be like when they voted.

I think it had its peak and after this week playercount will just start dropping because.. this is pretty much the content. It's not in depth enough to be spread out to two weeks. I like the server and I see potential in it as always but I know I'd enjoy it even more if the Beta ended and I could properly start developing my resistance character too, for an example.

Comically long workshift event.

The comically long workshift.

In reality, pushing a boring event from the top-down probably isn’t the best idea. I get it. It’s a beta. The event team isn’t the best. It’s something to look at in the future though.

This thread as come off the original point which was pretty much cleared up within the first couple of pages; we won’t be shortening the event as our numbers have been very stable for the past few days and the event has allowed for people to play, each day I have been on RP as be present and new scenarios, whether that is events from players or staff, have raised.

We now have a new system where players and staff can do events and get them approved; something which was happening frequently but as Sagsworth event has proved, we needed that fixed; we’re keeping an eye on staff event activity and so on. I also, have no clue where the two week long workshift came from and how someone can come to this conclusion which such little hours on the server.

Overall, I’m going to lock this thread before it derails any further; each and every point in here has been taken into account and discussed, either in yesterday’s meeting or in the very near future. 👍🏻
