Would you say that there is (slight) anti-Rebel bias as of recent?

The Resistance / Rebel scene is bit of a mess as of recent, to put it as short as possible. With everything happening around, some are fair to assume that the scene is declining, but why is that?

This is mainly caused by recent events and also server changes, such as:

- Cop armour increase, which was done because of Partisans wrecking CPs... Except even though they are gone, the buff remains, making Cops significantly stronger against 90% of Rebels.

- Combine responses to recent activities, like the Checkpoint bombing not so long ago being... Harsh, to say the least. I mean come on, CCR (like 10+ on) in the city, numerous Cops and OTA alongside A SPACE SHIP, AND turning the Slums into essentially a "If you are there, you are suspicious and eglible to be arrested / shot on sight". I do not think I have to say why it is ridiculous! Especially because EVENT REBELS (Aka. One-off, no story having Rebels) were adding onto this, screwing over actual resistance players. This pretty much killed Slums RP and also was such a insane response, everyone was shocked that they did not just NUKE the slums into a pile of debris.

- Recent Combine PK Rule change. With this new change live, CPs will no longer be demoted upon a PK. This means that there is even LESS of a loss when dying as a Cop, compared to Rebels. Speaking off...

- More punishing deaths on Rebel side. Akin to my previous point, when you get PK'd as a Rebel you loss significantly more, script and character wise. You not only start out from zero, but cannot do any rebelious acts for first two weeks of creating a new character. A Cop meanwhile loses... Less, so to speak.

Now, while these may seem like signs of bias, does it actually mean there is one? Or is it just people's NEGATIVITY bias?

On here I was told of that rule during a convo, the PK Cop convo or the OTA level cops, unless I was lied to. If Yes, I will edit it.

The only rebel act that requires the character to be at least two weeks old is infiltration, there is nothing listed on the rules that says any other rebel activity requires that.

If there is a rule about a character needing to be at least two weeks old, it is not mentioned in the rules. And most of the rebel player base would have broken this supposed rule, including me. Aswell as anyone who did NG+.

Not the main point of the post, but its what @MazuzaM said, so ask them I guess

Hello! This is your friendly neighborhood CSF command member here.

WE'RE NOT DEPLOYED!

Thanks for reading!

Rank Leaders and Command units share seventy-five armor. Every other unit has 50 armor.

The previous buff was as such.

Ground units = 50 armor. Command Units = 75 Armor. Rank Leaders = 100 Armor.

Riot armor was removed, which previously included command units getting 100 armor and ground units getting 75 armor.

It is my opinion, that we should gear towards the highest tiered rebels. You might ask me-- why?

Well— We'd just get shot-copped more, and the city would be in a consistent state of fractured because of how weak cops would be. Your solution to shotcops— is to have more shotcops happen. I do not think Shotcops should happen often, and if they do, then we should gear towards beating them. That is my opinion as a Rank Leader.

The rule is, (afaik), to prevent throw-away characters from having been used to PK characters, which is what happened in the political scene to Vivienne Rodier-Godreau, after having been PK'd by a throwaway character that was 2 weeks old, with less than 7 pages of roleplay.

- Combine responses to recent activities, like the Checkpoint bombing not so long ago being... Harsh, to say the least. The spaceship was pretty weird and immersion breaking for me. The CCR was called in because we had trouble handling event rebels with OTA weaponry, eventually leading to the destruction of the Garage. (Eye for an eye, I suppose.) IMO...

The only problem with that statement is the space ship.

It wasn't a checkpoint bombing that it btw, it was two rank leaders getting pk'd followed by fourteen ground units (partisans 2.0).

JW was extended because of event rebels 100%.

TBH, I wasn't really there for it all...

- Recent Combine PK Rule change. With this new change live, CPs will no longer be demoted upon a PK. This means that there is even LESS of a loss when dying as a Cop, compared to Rebels. Speaking off...

AFAIK, This was implemented so that the Civil Protection faction wouldn't be powerless if the entire garrison was pk'd, which happened three times now...

The rebel death having more punishment is by design, and without crippling the civpro faction (which needs to be consistently active), PKs are inherently more lenient. Rebels do not have any 'duty', besides that which their character direction chooses.

A solution that I could think of would be restrictions on when/why to sweep be enforced (To have more protections for slummers/rebels that may be caught with their pants down.) [And perhaps more warning.]{Heavy restrctions on shadow sweeps [faction lead perm as an example]}.

I could already imagine people DCing when an announcement starts or something-- which would cause problems in itself.

I will admit, the system isn't perfect. There are various holes that assist both rebels/combine respectively. (For example, shotcopping again [after an initial shotcop] doesn't reset your crime timer. {From what staff told me}).

It's definitely a hard system to balance, but all this reply is, is my opinion. So don't take anything to literally pls.

(I know cops have AKs, I just wanted riot armor back tbh...) [At least we could restrict that to fractured/jw]

There is a bias, of course.. others will say there are a bias to everything. But that doesn't matter if we all can equally agree for what is for the server and the playerbase. It is about making it FUN for everyone.

But as it is now, we cannot and the bias is sadly focused on the Combine side. I do not doubt they think the same about those who are on the 'Rebel' side, even if we truly aren't... which makes it fun for one side. Shotcopping is one that damages the idealism of the rebel rp, which is a minority. The majority are those that roleplay and dedicate themselves to other players enjoyment and gets to pay the price of losing year old characters.

I hope it will be fixed; but as it is right now, it seems like both sides hold mutual distrust sadly..

EDIT: But the biggest issue is that these recent 'slam downs' have demotivated players from contributing to an important function of the server, which is rebel rp. Combine faction needs the 'Rebellion' to even have an eventful and joyful playtime, but what happens where there is none logged on to contribute to it? Stagnancy.

I still vouch for a wipe of the AC/BoL data for those characters. Let them enjoy and contribute to the City rp! And if they do get those same statuses again, so be it... at least the playerbase as a whole has been stimulated. Perhaps it is time to actually consider wiping it and grant more players freedom. We are a community built upon fun, but right-now; this supposed escapism is built on total grimdarkness OOCly rather than ICly. Where the hell is the fun in that? Isolated a majority of the Rebel scene to 5% of the map due to fuck-ups outside of their control (mostly) that happened several months ago?

Tssch... even the Combine players are bored. And so are many more.

WIPE THE AC/BOL STATUSES AND LET THOSE POOR PLAYERS ENJOY CITY RP AGAIN FOR ONCE...

The rebel economy became heavily inflated— It's hard to keep track of what weapons enter the rebels hands whether it be from a mistake a GM has made or ignorance, so all the civpros can do is adapt (which inevitably leads to a snowball effect) of cops getting downed with AKMs, and said AKMs being looted...

So, maybe the gameplay team can elaborate more on the situation, because I think we both have skewed perspectives on what's actually happening...

Rebellious act as in shotcopping, your char must be 2 weeks old under throwaway rules

Edit : I don't see that rule either perhaps it is gone

It is ebb and flow. These last two weeks were heavy on the ebb. Soon it will be time for you all to rebuild.

Well if anything we lack proper data on all the events that transpired in the time.

The main issue is that no one really consults GT when it comes to bring in rifles, factions, balancing-fuckery changes, etc. Like CPs with AKMs and shit was not a GT decision nor was GT involved- if anything GT got a little pissed off because it was a balance killing move and one done out of desperation and stressful environment.

CSF coming in was not on our bingo cards but I did eventually just go "Fine" and added their gear in the code for the new models that were added and new uniforms- also setup their vendor to cost some credits for gear eventually after noticing it was all free.

Other Combine actions are the result of their escalation process and unfortunately I cant give much comment on OTA because well its guidelines are vague at best. And its vague because naturally the OTA overtime have wanted to deploy more to help out the CPs but the old specific guidelines made it so specific conditions needed to be met, now its just whenever they feel like it really. Not sure we can fix that at this point since its a guideline built on distrust for the system and players.

I can say this though:

Ground unit armor changes. We removed riot armor yes and with reason that it was silly for CPs to have riot gear but in return buffed their defacto armor values up to match mid level rebels with 50 Armor amongst all units upto i2 and 75 for i1 an RL and CPT has 100 as the most important figure.

25 is just too little for CPs and works only for recruits at best- but generally all units should have minimum 50 due to the downside of their gear being decent, but not good for anything outside of fighting low-tier rebels.

The Rebel Bunker being blown up was a Rebel Lead decision. Well mostly- they were conflicted with it internally but eventually it was pushed through and was not a Combine decision to Raid it, but a Rebel one to get themselves raided. Why? Because to the Rebel Leads, the bunker is responsible for killing Rebel and Slums RP, it was too protected, granted immunity and generally was a giant fuck you shield to RP and the Combine. Leads did not like that so they elected to blow it up... and then reinstated it after losing all trust in OWF leads.

The new PK Changes are actually in contest still because the PK Managers do not approve of its existence. The OWF leads are aware of this and I did specifically tell them that the changes can only go through if the PK Managers agree, and they did not agree so that is still under contest between managers and FLs

If you want to ask about anything else, go ahead and I can probably give an answer as to why and how and who.

GT not been responsible for most of the things going on, if anything, GT feels like it has no reigns to hold anymore since V2 has gone batshit insane.
