Not my story but my sisters.
She became a staff member on some RP server awhile back (years at this point). One of the guys on there started to severely sexually harass her (pictures, unacquitted love messages. That sort of thing). She kept on going since from what she said she really cared about the server. Cut a year down the line and she finally left and blocked the guy, which didn't exactly go over well and he made quite a few alt accounts to try and talk to her again. Obviously, she was having none of it and just continued to block each new account.
Cut to a few months into this back and forth, he begins to send pictures of her family (me included) and began messaging us on facebook saying stuff like "I miss her" and "Tell her (*enter some sort of horrific sexual message here*).", turns out he used her forum username and password to access her email, which in turn also gave him use of her facebook account and all other social medias. Be mindful this is before 2fa became a requirement. This all finally culminated in her receiving a postcard (!!!) out of the blue from this dude. This prompted my sister to report it to the police, but due to this guy living in a different country, there's really nothing that could be done about it. This kind of soured her entire life and eventually caused her to leave her home state and completely disconnect from the internet save for very few games she still plays. To this day she absolutely refuses to use social media again and only uses guest accounts on discord to talk to her gaming friends.
TLDR; Sister met some messed up dude, stalked her and caused her to disconnect from the internet. Don't use the same password for every account boys and girls.
