Implemented Binds

There's no incentive to spare anyone on either side right now, and probably never will be.

Those cops that you just downed? They're collaborating with the alien empire that enslaved your species and were sent there to kill you. If you'd have lost that firefight not only would you have died IC but would have lost your character OOC.

Flip that for cop players with rebels - you're forced to sweep and if you die doing it, you get PK'd. That doesn't exactly encourage most people to not double-tap downed rebels for their own safety.

You're not going to randomly get mercy in 9/10 cases.
Not wrong but it aligns with my character specifically. Which is what im trying to instill into the unit players. My group will spare units for either ransom or to bargain with later for food and supplies. We're mostly humanitarian so.

This too, most CP's will and do double tap rebel bodies even if there is more RP in trying to keep them alive.

Vice versa.

It is what it is.

Being honest as well, TBC does absolutely nothing to eliminate the fear of getting caught out mid-roleplay even if weapon damage is abysmal to compensate.

If I only have a few seconds per-round before I have to run again I'm not going to risk typing out long paragraphs to drag the guy off and heal them, I'm going to slap a /me down of blowing his brains out and bail. Sure you could spare them and let them get healed but why would you IC, if they're the enemy?

OOC its a dick move to just end a character but my brief experiences have taught me that yeah, the mentality to do so is still very much alive and well here on both sides. IC rationale comes before OOC politeness in most cases.

Building a rapport by helping the enemy after a firefight is also a neat idea but the chances of you bumping into the exact same group of cops or rebels next time vs just getting mown down are so slim it probably isn't worth it.

To be fair yes and no. The help you give the enemy after a firefight does go a long way. For example. I managed to meet the Defender-0 i helped a while back today in the slums, and he thanked me. It was pretty awesome. So sure you may not meet them EVERY time but it does go a long way to assist in preserving another characters existence after a firefight

Can somebody please tell me how this Turn Based Combat system work? I've seen it in practice in a video, but how is it initiated? Do you have to first do a /me or even during the TBC? Also, the CPs instantly doing a /me of shooting at you could have been a quick copy+paste.

You typically have to type a /me to engage someone and shoot them afterwards. To which TBC automatically starts

So, will the rule be enforced from now or repealed, since everyone uses binds?

I'd like to vote for it to be in favor of Enforcement, since... You know binds are a constant and nobody's gonna fuckin stop using em.

The problem with disallowing binds (mostly because it includes copy+pastes?) is it emboldens the people who simply run from roleplay.

People cannot be expected to see cops coming down the road and not take off, or to break away from being restrained and have to wait for the cop to raise their gun and magdump them.

Likewise, cops deal with runners all the time. By disallowing something like a copy+paste you're forcing staff to oversee literally every possible TBC.

IMPLEMENTED

The rule against binds are impossible to properly enforce and as a result produces unfair scenarios. Said rule will be promptly removed
