Riley's trolling, Nora is a black Brazilian queen and she's free from any and all criticism. Riley'd be banned instantly if she was truthful.

Very aggressive, but pretty on-point; I respect Rad-X's comment as he says people should be civil on the forums and I agree, but at the same time, if nothing gets done save for more of the same old same old, that kinda defeats the purpose of civility, it only helps the non-angered party unfortunately.

I'm not making a big deal about this and saying we should go all French Revolution and burn down some staff team member's house (though I'm going to burn down peryite's) But I am in total agreement with how the staff team's bureaucracy has been completely mismanaged for only the benefit of a few players. I've ran servers before, not as large as Willards but with atleast a hundred to two hundred players offline and around twenty-thirty online at their peak. Willards has around 30-50 total staff members (including creation team, mentors, leads, devs, etc), give or take, you don't need a byzantine level of bureaucracy that this server has. It needs to be skimmed, down-sized, and slimmed down to an efficient proportion. Everyone knows this, the staff are just afraid of going forth with it because they might get cut or lose their position in an impending lay-off, and no staff member wants that to happen.

But of course, no changes will happen until the folks at the top realize that the only way a server stops being stale is if it goes with the flow and changes in the times -- you don't swim in a sea if you stay stationary, you drown. You can't make a change that appeases everyone, either. Being in leadership is about making the hard decisions that will be unpopular with those you hold close, and that's just a fact.

The amount of times I've seen and heard of a person in power with repeat shitty decisions in this community is numerous, yet they just...Stick around. You don't have to ban these people, just find more efficient people to do their job better. That's how any normal community or employer works and that's how any efficient community will always work. The day a community becomes toxic is when you don't ACTIVELY promote an atmosphere of efficiency, quality, professionalism, anti-nepotism, meritocracy, and competitive yet friendly criticism from everyone. Some have tried to promote these values but when they've been known to go against them themselves, it kind of falls on deaf ears, 'Rules for me but not for thee' type vibes.

I'm completely derailing a thread made about a map to go on about staff criticism here, but I feel like everything ties back to that. People want something done and the map is just one of the main points about staff team inefficiency and a lack of intuition. It's not the best, most biting map and that's no fault to the developers who Willard-ized it because the map IS flawed from the beginning, IMO. We should've gone with the map City 3 on GMOD that's reminiscent of a Chinese city. It's infinitely cooler in its' atmosphere and is an amazing city map besides a few small, easily fixable issues.

That's all, thanks.

This is an intensely inaccurate overview of the map, I'll say that. The 'train station' area is the plaza. The slums is the down what you called the 'main area' which itself is more so just a street, rather than any direct hub. Though sadly the little 'park' area is likely to be isolated to CWU exclusive territory. Since there's no way the crane can ever be anything other than totally locked up.

Idk why this just seems like a schizo-post, but like there's like... 4 people that share your view about the interiors / size of the map, it's not even a matter of staff v players.

Put the map up to a vote and see how people will enjoy it. Also, that's far from a schizo-post. Just calling anything you don't like or disagree with a 'schizo-post' isn't polite, that's all I'll say on that matter.

If you wanna see schizo-post, I can start rambling about how the glowie feds are controlling my thoughts with Jimmy Kimmel, LMAO.

but there's quite almost nothing in what you call the plaza...

The Train station, CMU, Ration terminal, CP Nexus, CCA building and multiple stores are all within the plaza area.

you've listed multiple buildings 2/3 playerbase can't access, and there's only like 2-3 online store owners online at all
the others i can understand, but apart from the end and start of the map, you don't really roleplay in the train station (and since when did cca bother joining the server?)

i'll change my statement, to there's almost nothing civilians can do

I was moreso pointing out that the things present on every other HL2RP plaza are also present, arguably more so, on this one. Also the metro has stores in it as well, so it does have more use this time around. Far as I know CCA building will be accessible. Along with CMU lobby, ration terminal and all of the aforementioned stores.
Its not a remarkable Plaza or anything but its very much up to par with other plaza contents.

To be honest. I am open to map suggestions for future maps.

This one we hope to last and we do have ability to edit, though note, just because we have edit ability, doesn't mean we can freely edit it whenever because the mapper is currently burnt out and wants rest from the curse that is the Hammer editor. WE still got map edits to do, just waiting until after launching to make said changes and for the mapper to finish their rest.

City 3 I saw mentioned. There is a newer build of C17 made very recently which overhauls any past version of C17 and there is also C26. But each map has their pros and cons. No map is perfect and will always be flawed. This C27 is no different with its own flaws.

C27 suffers from what I can tell as buildings having no clear indicator of whether it is fake or not. Doors of fake buildings look the same roughly as real buildings with interiors. Also map size I think is fine, just suffers from buildings feel far too spread out. Making everything in turn feel empty. To get round the city with sprinting from 1 build on one side to another, you need 3 full sprint bars, even as a vort which runs at 125% boosted speed. If that was fixed and buildings made more compact and closer together than the map would be far better in terms of civ life.

Apologies if you found it rude, but you did randomly go off on a tangent about how staff disregard player opinion out of no-where.

Last time there was a vote we ended up with I24, so I let that speak for itself.

End of the day, no map is perfect, edits can and have been confirmed will still happen post-launch, any critical issues will be rectified at that point.

Hey there, I'm the mapper and I will say that City Three requires aggressive changes to suit our server which I do not have the time, willpower, or incentive to do. In its base form, it makes for a good event map, but that's about it.

For everyone else, I've heard your feedback about the map size and lack of interiors. I've begun sweeping changes across the map's layout to cut down on map size, which should hopefully alleviate these concerns. If not, I'm sure you all will be the first to let me know.

It goes without a saying, but I haven't read it a single time. Thank you, Astro, for taking your time to provide us with a suitable map. You're awesome.

Mr House here
In case nobody knows we've spoken to Astro OOC and he plans on making a large and impenetrable MOC office, or in this case a bunker. In this bunker the MOC will strategize on how we can help grow the economy and help the citizens, now with that being said we will naming this part of the map "Fuhrerbunker".

We are not open to changing the name.

Reading this thread, people need to wait and play the map in the Willard Networks style before criticising. Astros stepped upto the plate to do this under his own volition, contacting and involving Freigscard the original mapper too, both have been contributing.

Be thankful, we'll see how it affects each faction and how everyone gets on, but let's not jump the gun until we've actually set everything up!

Once again, extending much thanks and appreciation To @Astro and Freigscard for their contributions and intervention at a time when we got royally screwed on our old map.

Cheers big ears!
