Today a shadow sweep was initiated by OTA, and as I was told by @Eviction Notice , it's 'none of my beezwhacks' why they did so. The squad consisted of two OWS units, one APEX unit, and two EOWs. This was done in response to nothing as far as I know. No attack from the rebel side, no recent losses, it is day two of a new, destroyed city and OTA deployed a shadow sweep in the sewers and beach featuring two of their most elite units.

image.webpAs they ran the supposed most restrictred type of sweep according to their own guidelines, they eventually came across a group of underequipped rebels on the beach, who were doing passive RP. The resulting conflict was utter S2K nonsense, ending with a major victory against mid-tier rebels, and with the OTA units spamming ''Haha'' and ''Trash'' voicelines at the end while rebels laid in bleedout.

Is this what we expect nowadays from a faction of alien supersoldiers? Have we stopped caring entirely?
This is a sad display by the Combine side, one which constantly complains about the resistance lacking roleplay standards. Are these your standards, @Eviction Notice , and the ones you enforce on your team, since you were a part of this squad and dismissed all my questions during and after the engagement?

In a period where the Combine factions are under heavy scrutiny because of their behavior, is this how you choose to mend relations? By running nonsensical shadow sweeps and dismissing questions from the ET leads? Do better and stop harming your own player base and acting like minges. Even if there was a reason for this sweep, the IC behavior shown by these units is appalling and reads as OOC-fueled anger. It's gone on long enough and no action has been taken against these power trips besides minor rule changes.

Hello!
I am REAPER-34.
Please note, that was the one use of voicelines I did, then I ran off.

Toodles!

I can list a few reasons why it wasnt.

Untimely deployment. They waited until after the conflict to deploy on low level rebels.
Bad faith??? Uh, I think so oscifer.

I will just leave some screenshots that I believe will put some light on EN, showing how he is not only impossible to talk to, but heavily toxic OOC, even with his own faction members.

Do as you wish with these, not like I care anymore, I have said what I had to say but I believe this behaviour on his end, and him allowing Schizomeister to even have this behaviour towards other faction members is, in my eyes, utterly sickening.

I expected more from someone that is trusted as a leader of such a powerful faction like the combine is. I doubt I will be answering to this anymore and refrain myself to just reading through it, do as you guys will, just don't kill each other.

tuki respectfully, you didn't choose to make a complaint, you chose to go into a public channel and start tossing allegations. stop trying to take the high ground like you're a saint.

I ain't a saint, I'm pretty toxic too, but you had a horrible behaviour and should have stopped/be better than me in this case.

You and Schizo basically dogpiled on Atlassu instead of trying to explain the situation, not a good look, bud.

The only focus here is your actions in this matter to think.

Joins the complaint thread not to defend himself, but to cherry pick people and deflect. Another case into the bad faith!

Hi

Commander Jin here, victim of OTA sweep, I have not read any of the replies to the thread yet however I will past the text sent in the PK appeal Enjoy:

Hi Commander Jin here, I was the one who was in charge of the passive RP. Recently I've seen a lot of complaints from the community about the lack of passive rp within the rebel scene, I've seen complaints about rebels only contributing by shotcops to the server. I decided to make a change, my character Jin decided to take a small rundown ship and convert it into a bar so that other rebels and her can simply chat. There is a reason I minimized S2K on my character, I instead only wished to have a little hub in the outlands.

And for the record, none of us, none had anything to do with whatever the fuck was going on inside the slums, we were simply a small group of a couple rebels who instead of wanting to turn our brains off and mindlessly kill people just simply sat inside of a boat sharing drinks and food.

And then guess what happens next, a random ass shadow sweep of 5+ OTA including EOW randomly storm the city. Us clueless simply sit and enjoy some peace and passive rp, however once we hear them it's too late, they arrived practically all the way to the ship, now me and a few rebels with low-end gear are forced to fight a random shadow sweep. Half of us don't even have good guns, I'm the only one with a decent one.

So yes, I believe OTA should not be able to respond to something that happened an hour ago in slums by going all the way to outlands just to kill a couple of randoms trying to passive rp.

I've already responded to the complaint thread, I'm now responding to the replies levied against me-- you're quite literally the only one ragebaiting at this point.

Honestly? Not surprised that this is the response you were given.

Such behavior coming from a faction lead is simply... disturbing to say the least.

It's no secret that the Combine faction has been ailing to say the least -- to no fault of the players who actively partake in CivPro roleplay daily. However gross mismanagement has been frustrating to deal with for all sides of the playerbase.

In this case, though -- it clearly seems to be an attitude problem, which is no wonder the faction is failing. I mean, just look at how he posts and replies? There's no civility or decorum.

This seems like a unjustified attack for events that had no tethering to the actions of earlier; and a blatant excuse for Combine/OTA players to get their kicks and destroy roleplay yet again on a whim. Perhaps to save face?

It almost makes you wonder why we have deployment rules and standards if the Faction Lead's refuse to abide by them anyway?

Though coming from the guy who doesn't believe in targeting, nor "doesn't particularly care" about much, it seems pretty on-brand.

Coming here with more!!!

Before the OTA sweep, a Hunter was spawned in the outlands, and the beach.
Hunter in the Outlands; okay cool, that's alright because they're supposed to be an out-of-city threat.
Hunter in the beach?
Yikes.

This also counts to Synth deployment, regardless if its an NPC, also adding to the over deployment. Shield Scanners were deployed, ALSO adding to the deployment.

Come on, Eviction.
Why couldn't you deploy when the scenario was actively happening?
Why couldn't you
Follow the rules..?

YOUR guidelines say 'LOSS AFTER LOSS'
There were only two biosignal losses.

What happened to leveling the playing field? Which-where the intent is to kill the active, stronger players. Not people trying to passively roleplay in the server.

I find it funny how people complain about rebels not doing passive rp. Then when we do passive Rp, instead of going after the people who shot you, you simply kill a bunch of random people that had nothing to do with the sweep. And you might say "Combine is evil and does collective punishment" however that's just bad faith honestly. You go out of your way to instead of investigating the place where it went down go all the way to the outlands [the beach] to go mess with a group of under geared rebels that are simply trying to break the cycle of constant S2K. At this point I regret going out of my way to organize this entire RP hub since this is what happens. If this is what happens to people who attempt to do passive RP on rebel, next time none of us will.

organize this entire RP hub
It probably wasn't the smartest idea to put the RP-hub in a highly illegal area, doubled when all those who are 'passive roleplaying' tend to sit in full equipment. I don't believe it's fair to plead safety of Passive RP when you take these factors into account- why didn't you put it in the slums?

why didn't you put it in the slums?
Explain to us the differing outcome from being inside the city and having the hub, and being outside the city and having the hub. Eviction, you can't follow your own deployment guidelines, you can't follow your own deployment numbers.

Atlassu respectfully I'm not going to respond to you if you keep repeat-posting obviously emotionally driven drivel.

I am not saying that the passive rp should literally stop me from being persecuted. No what I'm saying is that people will complain that rebels don't rp. But when we try to do so we get met with sweeps that have nothing to do with us. I would not use the argument if say the people responsible for the sweep had used the place to hide. Or if the combine had planned a sweep beforehand to attack the city. However this sweep was in result of an action taking place within the slums, there is no reason an OTA hit squad hours later should go to kill random rebels trying to enjoy their time in the outlands. And to answer your question about the slums, I've done that previously and it's fun and good. However this map is different it has an entire outland area and rebel city. I wanted to bring something new to the rebel scene that's why I chose the outlands, an area that should not expect constant sweeps.

There is a reason you see large rebel settlements in the outlands. And I get it, this is near the city. However I still believe a OTA sweep sent to deal with the slums should not go outside of city limits to fuck with random people. Simply bad faith. And bad planning, only reason that it worked was because you attacked a group of low tier rebels, if the rebels had not flagged down due to the failed crime check, then this situation would have gone differently. Not only is this OOCLY bad faith as you attack a group of people that had nothing to do after the incident, but it's also ICLY a bad idea to respond to an attack in the slums with a sweep into the unknown. I've seen expos into the outlands with less response from OTA. I find it crazy that you will respond to an action inside the city by sending a bunch of OTA outside the city to simply "find anyone to punish". This is a toxic mindset. You failed in finding anyone inside of the city so OTA go out of their way to abuse the rules and try to find a "trophy rebel" to bring back. Cause that's what it looks like to most people, an unauthorized sweep that failed and decided to re-route to get a "trophy rebel" so that it's not considered failed.

This image is from the hot zone of the action, the SLUMS more specifically.
This provided clip is also in COMBAT with the beginning scenario.

Shadow sweeps *are* supposed to be reactionary to the location, in the effect of trying to suppress that areas incoming danger. So for what purpose was it directed to the beach? Was it a full sweep? If it was, then why?

This is a roleplay server, where people are actively to roleplay. What EN did was S2K slop, the kind of S2K slop where not even Impulse players would welcome it.

As a very tiny point here, I think it is obvious that the major rebel presence today did logically demand a response... but shadow sweeping hours later to kill uninvolved, undergeared (compared to the people earlier) people solves nothing with the Liberators and is not good for server health. I think this is something that both sides are capable of recognizing as a bad outcome.
